Venture investing in decentralised AI

xTensor Capital

Two technologies are converging: artificial intelligence and the decentralised protocols that let thousands of independent contributors build it, run it, and get paid for it. xTensor Capital invests where they meet. We back the founders turning decentralised AI into real businesses, starting with Bittensor, the most developed network of its kind.

01 - Thesis

AI is consolidating. Decentralised networks are the counterweight.

The problem

The most capable AI belongs to a few companies. They decide who gets access, at what price, and in what form. The public version is rarely the best version, and the terms can change overnight.

The alternative

Open networks let anyone contribute compute, models, and data, and get paid for what they deliver. Intelligence built this way stays open. It also stays sharp, because every capability is produced by teams competing to keep their place.

Why Bittensor

The most developed live network of this kind. Real companies with real revenue are forming on it, not just tokens.

02 - How we work

One mandate, expressed through the cleanest instrument.

For every opportunity we ask one question: what is the best claim on the value being created? The answer drives which of three sleeves we intend to deploy, underpinned by one research engine.

01

Private venture stakes

Equity and early-stage instruments in AI startups building on Bittensor and adjacent decentralised networks. The primary expression of the strategy.

02

Strategic token positions

Positions in TAO and in the tokens of individual Bittensor markets, taken where the token is a better claim on the value being created than the equity.

03

Liquid trading sleeve

A bounded book of liquid tokens, used for hedging and risk management around the core portfolio.

04

Technical & operational edge

Labs runs live operations on the networks we invest in. That first-hand view tells us which teams and mechanisms are real before we commit capital.

Founder-led, London-based

A focused founding team building at the intersection of venture investing, crypto capital markets, and applied machine intelligence.

Small by design

A team of three to five, built to cover the ground of a much larger firm. Software and agents do the routine work; people spend their time on judgement.

03 - Technical engine

The engineering company inside the group.

xTensor Labs is a separate technology and research company. It builds and operates the software that runs on decentralised AI networks, including TAO View, and explores Bittensor from the inside. What Labs learns by building, Capital puts to work by investing. Labs never holds fund assets or makes investment decisions.

Network operations Proprietary clients and tooling, run live as R&D so diligence starts from first-hand evidence.

Research systems Product surfaces, including TAO View, for subnet analytics, alerts, and research workflows.

Operational intelligence Agents handle monitoring and reporting, so coverage stays current without headcount.

04 - Primer

The xTensor Capital primer.

An educational primer on the Bittensor network: its architecture, the TAO token and subnet mechanics, and why decentralised AI is becoming a commercial edge for the companies building on it.
